No restriction of rights in maternity hospitals can be imposed on children born to people from vulnerable groups. Measures to prevent mother-to-child transmission of infections, including HIV-infection, must be applied to any newborns, regardless of their HIV status. To protect the child’s right to health, pregnant women living with HIV must be provided the means of preventing perinatal HIV transmission in advance at the cost of the public budget.
